Of course! Thank you! I was thinking of six being VI.
The clue for 3 down is "Mud in your eye!" coming up without a lot of speed for old dandy's curls (9).

Thank you K. I was hoping you were still on that was why I did not put the (long) clue on in the first place. I must get an electronic keyboard this manual one is rubbish. :-)

You are doing pretty well.

People seem to have had fun with today's Guardian. I think most did not see the relevance of 15d which was in effect a starred clue!

Yes, K, I think this was one of Araucaria's more interesting ones. It took me some time to get started but I found it stirred up the little grey cells!
