The Saturday Guardian has a good puzzle- better than the Times and Telegraph. The Observer has the Azed crossword which can be tricky and is really for advanced puzzlers.
I think the prizes are books or gift vouchers.
If you want to ease into the more challenging ones you could start on the Sunday Times Mephisto which is the easiest of it's kind but is a step up from the normal cryptics.
think i tried the mephisto once completely baffled me, think i might try the guardian next week then.I try to convince my husband that Im not having fun but Im seriously winning prizes but ive got so many dictionarys, book tokens and pens now its getting harder to convince him!
Hi JW - regret I don't; am a devoted Telegrodyte and have been for (nearly!) as long as kayakamina's been doing cryptics. Maybe I should try it - after all, I did once win Enigmatic Variations (bighead!) LOL ++ GK
Enigmatic variations! I dont even understand the concept of that one, I kept one one week waited for the answers to see how it worked and was just as baffled!
