why do people join ABERS?

I have just been told NOT to use ABERS for sourcing my questions by an ABERS member! am i going mad?

I read this earlier Dottie .. I wouldn't worry about it too much ..I have been slated for giving answers in the past for quizzes and crosswords that are ongoing or new or whatever .People have been criticised for posting answers just to check with others .... but have no qualms at posting when they are in a fix !!
You have paid for your quiz ....it's in a good cause ..if you win you win ..if you don't you don't...It's not a matter of life or death......but you have the satisfaction of knowing your money goes to a cause and that's all that matters.

The advice probably came from someone who is quite happy to trawl these pages for an answer, but entirely unwilling to offer the same service to others. Bit sad really.

I'd just like to say Dottie B I have found the AB site an absolute godsend and use it every day. I trawl the site for answers to try and avoid asking the same question twice. I also post questions and, apart from a little bit of meaness I first started when loads of people jumped to my defence, I alwyas get a friendly and helpful response - long may it continue.

I thought you hit the nail on the head- If someone doesn't want to see the answers why subscribe to Ab in the first place? Keep on trucking DB

thanks everyone for your support, i've had some wonderful responses in the past and in a way made lots of new friends, as i pointed out to this person i enter these quizzes (like 99% of people) for fun and to give money to the charities, i did ask what he/she was doing on answerbank themselves? thanks again. The buzz I get from finding answers for myself is great and is the reason I enjoy doing quizzes BUT when I'm stuck! well this sites been the best thing I've found, only been using it since December and my enjoyment has increased, not just as a source of help to me and I do try to give back help ,but reading about what other quizzes people are doing and the "chatting" that goes on its brilliant! Sorry if I've gone on a bit, but I'm with you Dottie B.

As I said before Dottie ..i was given a hard time because a lady was posting some answers to one of the mags ....just for confirmation ..and I agreed with her ...this developed into a real slanging match ...yet the accuser had no qualms about posting all the answers to a crossword a little later !
I think they suffer from what I call "Heads to far up own backsides syndrome "

I agree with all the other posters, AB is one of the best sites on t'internet. I love completing crossword under my "own steam" but if I can't this is the best and most friendliest site. It's no more cheating than using google, chambers or a good old fashioned dictionary.

Don't take any notice--We are --on the whole-- a great and sometimes totally mad bunch on here.
This situation has been posted before--we don't always receive the quizzes at the same time, so some people have only just started and others have been at the same quiz/puzzle for quite a while, and therefore atre stumped!
You are very welcome to our "club" and please believe me, the majority are more likely to be the "nice guys/gals"

Thanks Teacher, I remember when Granny G got "stick" from someone, and it really isn't necessary. We are here to have some fun and laughs and "never" to put anyone down.
Sorry if I am OTT but we are all about having fun doing our quizzes, aren't we ?

I can vouch for the friends you make on AB, as only a few weeks ago I said I felt a bit of an outsider and I got some lovely friendly replies. Someone suggested I took part in the Sat. morning word quiz and since I did I feel i have got a whole new lot of friends, which at the moment is something I need. Keep asking for answers,thats what AB is for and ignore the miseries, there are lots of really nice people on AB. Good luck with the quiz, hope you win,best wishes Evsajo
