In a dramatic race for the Links Crown, the last four links chosen by Barbara (aka rogerr) with a TV theme are as follows:

News AGENT (or AGENCY)
Play GROUND
CLING Film
SOFT Soap

You lot must be tuning into the preferences of the setter, since all four links were spotted by the first FOUR entrants and the game was virtually over by 9.05am (after only five minutes of play!).

The "one minute man" lector claimed the first hit with PLAYGROUND and picked up the first of the bonus points. The same link (and the same recorded time) was claimed by wickedtongue AND (from the other side of the globe) by seekeerz.
Well done you three!

There's more! The sinister-sounding wickedtongue also brought in CLING FILM to claim a second double pointer! A real coup! This mysterious ABer has been scoring well on a consistent basis. By 9.03 came in Entrant #4 in the form of FoxLee claim SOFT SOAP and more bonus points.

The last link to fall was NEWS AGENT which managed to survive until 9.05 when Entrant #8, london_lassy, arrived on the scene in her usual perceptive manner!

All bonus points claimed, we move on.

Over the renaining field points were generally picked up as singles with the following exceptions. Special mention goes to Aquagility, Arabesque, gardenknowin and Paul21455, all of whom had double hits!

Most surprising is the SHOCK HORROR PROBE that our three front runners in evsajo, samurite & cliffyg all failed to add to their previous scores!

Hence the Hot Shot of the Week must be ***wickedtongue***

Well done wickedtongue. I was WAY off the mark this week. Of course you all realise I deliberately 'threw' my attempt this week, as I needed a good rest to recover, and so thought that to go for the outright win would not be good this week!
I am biding my time...until it feels right!!!!
Question Author
How do the monthly points totals look?

Let me state imediately that the February MM Links Champion is the one, the only, the enigmatic
wickedtongue!!!! Resounding Cheers all Around!

WT ~ Please make contact with me on <[email protected]>

Commiserations to those who led the field for so long - only to fall at the final fence!

FINAL POINTS TABLE
8 points: wickedtongue
6 points: evsajo & sarumite
5 points: Arabesque, Christiana, cliffyg & huggles
4 points: lector
3 points: burgess, Paul21455, slaney & Alibobs

Sorry if I have missed anyone in my dash to beat the clock!

Even more sorry to find that I will no longer be working officially with the amazing Barbara who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make MM Links a success. She kept you lot on your toes for four whole weeks.
Unofficially, I'll still keep in touch!
What nice people you meet on AnswerBank!

Well this is crofter signing off at the end of an era. We have survived our induction period. May we grow in strength and keep alive the memory of Michael Mepham through the MM Links Game.

See you all next week, same time, same place, same zero scores! Who cares! Have fun and keep smiling!
many thanks barbara and crofter. Again I caused crofter no problems by getting zero. I hope wickedtongu will keep us all on our toes.
Like Pauline I will just bide my time.
I seem to be doing better against Kate with the KM game
see what Monday brings
jan
Well done wickedtongue. And thanks again to crofter and Barbara.
For me, death but not dishonour!
How remiss of me!! Many thanks Crofter and rogerr for the last 4 weeks challenge.
well done wickedtongue, I look forward to next weeks words when I must try harder, but even though I didnt win I still beat much older brother aka Burgess !!! As you know Crofter he is in your area next weekend so please take all necessary precautions. Finally (yet again) thanks to everyone who has been so friendly since I started doing this, it has made weekends so much better.See you all next week. luv Evsajo
PS So sorry forgot to say thank you to Barbara and Crofter for setting quiz. Many thanks
Well done wickedtongue! and the rest ot you that finally got the measure of me.
I have had a brilliant time as "Queen of the month" and can highly recommend it! Not sure if WT is M or F so maybe they won't appreciate being the new Queen!
I did think my farewell party would amount to more than a bunch of daffs and a glass of dodgy sherry--but hey that's crofter for you!
I hearby bequeath the CROWN (albeit a bobble hat with fruit gums for jewels) to Wickedtonque.
Long live the Game!
Barbara
Congratulations wickedtongue, and a big thankyou to Barbara for the last four enjoyable weeks - and of course the indefatigable (gosh there's a long word for a Sunday evening) Crofter to whom I award an AB medal for dedication beyond the call of duty. As Crofter himself says, you meet such nice people on the Answer Bank.
Thanks to everyone for this great puzzle for all the time and effort they put into it , still 0 points for me ( think that's for the month ! ) . Until next week . Well done Wicked Tongue .
Question Author
IMPORTANT ~ wickedtongue My e-mail address set out earlier is not correct. It should read as shown below: <[email protected]>

I've just established this e-mail address specifically for AB and I haven't used it much! Hence the error!

It's important that you contact me to let me know your wishes regarding future link games.
Congratulations wickedtongue! And thanks to rogerr and crofter as usual. After being whipped by SHAZZher indoors by 1 to 0 (again for me) I will have to think about retiring - she, of course, now thinks that this is a great game to play!! See you all again same time next week.

Chris ~ I did notice the 0-1 score in favour of Shazza, but I thought it was better not to comment
Well, another big fat ZERO for the JimJools household. Well done to wickedtongue and we look forward to pitting our wits against your choice of link words next week.
Would you believe it . . evsajo and myself were clear of the field and just about to jump the final fence, when we were impeded and passed by the fast moving wickedtongue!

Congratulations to him/her on a well judged race.

Thanks also of course to Queen Barbara rogerr<b/> who helped to make the last 4 weeks so enjoyable, and also managed to keep us unruly lot in some sembance of order!

And lastly, but of course not least, thanks again to the one and only King crofter who yet again demonstrated his unique brand of wizardry with the counting frame.

It's been a lot of fun . . let's hope March is equally enjoyable!
(S) ;0)
I see that my newly acquired expertise with the bold type has also failed me :-( :-(
Thanks to Barbara and Crofter for a most enjoyable game. I was chuffed to bits to score not just my first point ever but a bonus point to boot. Onwards and upwards in March.
Thank you Crofter & Barbara for all your input over the past few weeks, working out the scores must take forever.

I am mighty impressed with myself for making the leader board, albeit the bottom rung - well done to Wicked Tongue et al
Good morning all, from Down-under - what an exciting finish to a month of great enjoyment.

Congratulations to wickedtongue on an excellent win, congrats also to everyone who scored through the month - I observe with interest that finally in the last week, I got in tune with rogerr and actually scored 2 points !! Talk about leaving it to the last minute.

Thanks of course to rogerr for setting such a challenging month of combinations and naturally to our indispensable crofter with his abacus and wax tablet.

Now we must wait till tonight/tomorrow morning to find out the winner of the KM Links and I would point out that wickedtongue is sitting right behind the joint leaders - there could be a boil-over - only time will tell !!!
Congratulations to wickedtongue on an impressively high score, and to the high scoring runners -up.
As ever, thanks to Barbara for finding all the good words , and to crofter for the AWH (Abacus Work Hours) !
