rummage. rum =odd, time =age. m=large number (roman numerals)
5 entertaIN A NEwcomer
5 Correct ...the answer is ( in ) the clue .
enterta(in a ne)wcomer .
Tracing end of it and racing
9 Rum= Odd ..large number M = roman numeral for I000 + Age = time ..Rum M age
Theft is right TT = race he+f =loud inside TT
10. Peruses . . . . per(rep <return) + uses/exploits
10. should be PER+USES so I think it should read "rep's return". PER=reverse of (rep) and USES is exploits.
10 peruses Uses= exploits with Rep (return ) backwards ...anagram of rep and uses
4 Upsets up=increase sets= anag. of test
Sorry forget that can't spell!
4. You're still right Tenter ! . . . . Up + sets (eg tennis)
4 -Games series could be your sets, Tenter
2. Maybe . . . . may be ? (2nd opinion please!)
for 2, i got abuts but i used the traditional clues (is next to) so thats the answer, all you cryptic minded people can pick it to pieces now. Well done bekib86 for attempting these clues, i have no idea of where to start with them, so best of luck!
2. Agree 'Abuts' . . . . forget 'maybe' !
2 . . . . to clarify, "A but's", (a but is) = Abuts. Your method is perfectly sound Twinkleton, ie think logically then work backwards to validate the 'trickery'. This often makes cryptic clues easier than straight ones, as you get two chances!
for number 3 doing the traditional clues i got perish, is this right for matching your cryptic ones?
Perish is not really a good answer to cryptic clue as any six letter word would do i.e. forget something like overdraw would be better "lose bank interest"
So it isnt really a cryptic clue? is it meant to be taken more literal as in you loose all interest if you perish cuz you'd be dead???!! am i on the right lines?
