One imprisoned for possessing a dud alibi? (8) did anyone get a reasoning for this, the answer is jailbird. AILBI is an anag. of alibi but where does the J and the RD come from?

Like a humorous scot? (7) The answer is Jocular, i think im missing something really obvious here, is it some kind of scottish slang? is that where it comes from?

Thanks

Jock ..is a slang name for a scotsman
I can't see where the J comes from, but RD may relate to a dud cheque which is marked RD - Refer to Drawer
