This one's way over my head this week. I can't find the roman fort eventhough I know the battle site is Otterburn.

I can't find where Charlotte Marsh was born and therefore can't decide from there if the castle is at Bamburgh or Dunstanburgh.

What a mess. I wonder if all this is connected to the fact that this week's puzzle is not available online.

Gb: There's a Roman fort called Chesters about 15 miles from Hadrian's Wall not far from Otterburn. Is it worth checking perhaps?

I'm still waiting for the online page!

Good luck.

Thanks LeoMunro.

I think I've found the fort now. It's High Rochester, which fits in with the clue about a similarly named Roman city many miles away.

The birthplace of Charlotte Marsh is still eluding me though.
Charlotte Marsh was born in Amble.
The Roman fort isn't easy, as it's hard to find reference to a cemetery but I think it's the one at Rochester.
Fort - Brenivm - Rochester

Charlotte born in Amble

Castle is Dunstanburgh

Who'll be first to register when the page is corrected?
How come we all signed on at the same time?!!! (I've been busy with other things!).
Great minds think alike, wideboy!

The puzzle is finally back online and I have Bremenvium for the Roman Fort that also has Roman tombs.

I dont have to hurry and register - we **** aren't allowed to entre!

Good luck with your effort and kindest regards to all you friendly, helpful AB folk.

Thanks all for your help.

I accessed The Oxford Dictionary Of National Biography online earlier today using a school's username and password etc. There's a large article on Charlotte Marsh in the ODNB and it says she was born in Alnmouth.

Nine miles north of there is Dunstanburgh Castle.

Anyhow, we all got the right answers in the end.

Thanks again
Thanks for that, gumboot...I 'm sure you are right . This is what led me astray

Very many thanks Gumboot for your kind follow-through. I had me doubts about the "nine miles" from Amble.

Thanks too to Slaney for tidying things up very nicely. What a great lot you Abers are.

The Sunday Times has told me that there was a "technical hitch" on Sunday.

Love to all,
