Re 28, I was interpreting the clue as 'about body car' being re-hearse, as smouse has said. Then I took 1 and 12 in the clue as referring to the first and twelfth letters of the alphabet, which also make the name Al - the 'for him' bit of the clue.

Sorry, val, I haven't been ignoring you. I don't often get the chance to look at the site during the day. Yes, I started with Sweep then ended up with Groom for number 5 as well. As smouse did, I noticed his absence and went through the clues again trying to find one that fit.

I've also got I Do for number 1 as well. I'm not entirely happy with it but the only other thing I can think of is Dearly Beloved, which only fits the 'welcome' part of the clue and ignores the 'response' part.

Actually I suppose Silence would be a welcome response to the 'does anyone know any just cause or impediment etc' part of the service :-) LOL.
