evening poodledoo ... I also have Drapanias although it's not in my atlas either. My anagram solver came up with this as a first choice and when I googled it said it's a village in Crete. Don't know if that helps. xx

Thank you for your answers teacher& earthakitten. Perhaps I should have explained that the quiz setter planned a route around the world, and so the place names for each clue are reasonably close together. If Drapanias is correct, the clue writer suddenly flew from the north coast of Australia to Crete?(as it isn't in my atlas).Whilst Drapanias certainly is an anagram, Iand fellow compers are a bit suspicious that its too far away, as the next clue comes back towards Australia.As fellow compers I can assure you I really appreciate your help, but by the same token I am sure you can appreciate our frustration!

Point taken poodledoo ... I'm doing this one aswell. It does seem a bit off the beaten track doesn't it ? Perhaps I will try that one again but if not Crete ... WHERE !!! xx

Could 18 be Palm Springs as Psalm is to sing the praises.

But I can't see where reverse nothing comes into the answer.

I am really struggling on this one and 17.

Help would be grealty appreciated.

Sorry folks

Having not woken up properly I apologise for my suggestion for 18 as I now see it could be Carolina.
Please help as I am getting more confused by the minute.
I think I will go back to bed and try starting the day again and see if that helps.
