Hi Sarumite, Struggling with this crossword as you said very challenging! This is my first attempt and am having trouble finding 36a , can you help please? Have you finished it?
Morning all .
Clue for 45 a
Think of Miltons famous poem on melancholy which has an Italian title , and insert an 'i' into second word.
Took me ages yesterday to get this one.
Hope you feel better soon Steff .. remember not TOO much water with it !! And yes, I must go easy on that submit button or will be sent to the tower again !!
Yes, "Gentle wools", Steff.
I've finished now, except that Chambers gives D instead of T as an alternative for 31d. I'm sure sarumite will sort me out when he gets back from K's super-store.
OK,sarumite, thats me done, I'll stick with Emboscata. Should have been working on the boat today but it's pi$$ing with rain, so no great harm done.
One strange thing - I've just noticed that my score of answers removed has gone up one! Of course I've no idea what it might have been. Am I getting paranoid?
Aqua .. since Aug 2006 when I joined AB my profile shows 3861 answers given with 18 removed. No idea why so many have been removed, and I hope that none of them were seen as abusive!!
Its me again Sarumite, 37a, the genus according to my biologist husband is Sitta where do I find the rest, please.
Have hunted high and low, you obviously have a secret site to find all these obscure words!!
Not much work done today I am determined to finish this wretched crossword if it takes me until the weekend when I'll start all over again with the Daily Telegraph GK!!
Hi LaneyB
I had finished the crossword but when you mentioned Sitta I tried to find a way to get you to the correct word. I tried typing sitta and got:
Noun 1. Sitta - type genus of the Sittidae
That has 8 letters and doesn't fit so you must look for a variation on the word Sittidae.
Hope that helps.
