Polypod
I have polyped.
polypod n an animal with many feet; a polypody. Chambers.
Not in my 10th (latest) edition. Unless you've found it under another article?
But the Oxford gives polypod as an animal with many feet - so I stand corrected!
Well, I have the Chambers dictionary on CD-Rom and also the ninth edition paper version and polypod comes under poly- there.
Apologies aquagility - I was a bit slow in replying.

Many thanks Slaney, Aquagility and Town Crier.
I have re-studied my Ninth Edition of Chambers on page 1167 Polypod is defined as " an animal with many feet : a polypody". So, I will now go for Polypod, but think "Polyped" fits the bill better, even though there appears to be no such word. Once again many thanks all.
polyped does appear in the OED under poly - an animal having many feet. However, it also defines Polypod in its own right as "having many feet or footlike organs". soit looks as though the latter is favourite.
POLYPED would mean affected by or possessing polyps. I think it must be POLYPOD
