Is anyone else having no joy with this? I like to see if my query has been answered already, before submitting a question, but, lately, I've had to trawl laboriously through recent replies as key words entered in the search box don't seem to register any hits.

Yes, I've had the same problem in the last 2-3 weeks .
It used to be easy to find a thread by using key words , but now more or less impossible.
I agree. It can't even find a question with the correct heading typed in.
I noticed this yesterday when trying to get back to the confident/continent discussion. Neither word apparently rated a hit. So I had to rely on the least reliable tool in my box!
I agree, it seems to require some technical maintenance.
Yes same problem.Sat and trawled through 100 pages the other night to see if my query had already been answered.
For questions you have asked or answered, you should be able to check back by using the My Profile function, feebee.
Sorry I mean a query I was going to ask.Sorry very dim moment this morning.
I have almost given up on the search facility on this site. I have put a message in the Suggestions box this morning.

You can quite frequently find an AB question and answer by using Google - it is certainly more reliable than the AB search facility at the moment.

Well, that is truly amazing! Following avis50's advice, I tried my key words in Google and - bingo! Thanks - I'd never have thought of that in a million years. I've also had a look at your suggestion - do hope it bears fruit. Thanks to everyone else who commented, too.
Great - glad it worked for you, MCC
I e-mailed technical support a few days ago and got the following reply:

"This is a message from the Answerbank Support Team.

We are working of the search facility at the moment, and the search could be affected at that time. We cannot provide any more details at the moment regarding this matter.

We hope you still enjoy the AnswerBank.

Kind Regards

Hopefully things will be back to normal in a few days.

Thanks, avis50 and Magyar - it's good of you to take the trouble to keep us all informed. Hopefully, things'll be sorted soon - meanwhile, there's good old Google!
