Nearly there! However, the last piece of the jigsaw doesn't seem to fit. It's an unclued LiGHT and I have the letters HOT?OI?R (I was thinking of HOTPOINT until the R came along)

There may be connection with the colour GREEN.
Any ideas anyone?

crofter I am sure you will already have done what i have just tried on onelook no words fit with the letters you have so I took one out at a time could only get hotpoint and hotelier by taking out the R and O respectively

The information I SHOULD have given you was that the pattern was HOT??KE? and the colour was red!

I originally had SILENT for a down clue which had to have "King ousting one" (K replacing I) to get SKLENT (Scottish for bias). I hadn't completed the clue!

This made the second word ?OK?R rather than ?OI?R.

This was one of the EV lights that had no clue, so I was working in the dark. Sorry to mislead you!
