Does anyone know where No. 5 is? It is a clock tower in London with the clue: "My heart beats true for England as for France". Does this relate to Mary 1? Help appreciated.

Little Ben, one of Londons many peculiar monuments.

A miniature version of Big Bens Clock Tower this clock sits outside Victoria Station. Forever confusing visitors, it shows the time in France. The dedication reads My hands you may retard or advance / my heart beats true for England as for France.

Many thanks, GetOverIt. I have spent ages googling pictures of London landmarks but did not find this one. The sign for Kensington and Knightsbridge put me off track. Thanks again.
Forgive me querying your answer GetOverIt but is that strictly true about showing the time in France?

This is what wikipedia says and if this is true it does make the rhyme more sense:

Unusually for clocks in Britain, Little Ben is set one hour in advance of Greenwich Mean Time throughout the year. During the summer this coincides with British Summer Time, while in the winter this is the same as Central European Time. Although this means that the clock displays the local time for only half the year, it does demonstrate a preference for neither Britain nor Europe. This sentiment is captured in the rhyming couplet Apology for Summer Time signed J.W.R. affixed to the body of the clock:

My hands you may retard or may advance
my heart beats true for England as for France.

I don't know - I just copied and pasted from the website I found.
Yes, sorry, GetOverIt - I saw your link after I had posted. Doesn't really matter anyway does it - Argee2 has the answer thanks to you and thats the important thing.
That's what I thought, Little Ben is obviously the right answer.

I must start getting the Indy, it looks like they have a lot of good quizzes.

I'm still mad that I didn't get The Album Covers quiz they did, as Popular Music is my " Specialist Subject " !
