I agree wwith K, of course, about 'stock cubes' being the answer, but the reasoning I used was as follows. 'Dies' is an alternative for 'dice'...ie cubes...and one meaning of 'stock' is 'kindred/family'...ie brothers.
But what the hey! We both got the same answer.
