OK smouse give me the answers, for 53 and 67 I have some Ify answers.
53. Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers (Che Guevara was a rebel, They stir = Rouse)
67. Kool and the gang?
Question Author
Smouse, do you have anything else for Q31. than the TOO obvious answer?
Question Author
Its me again, just realised I haven't got a definite answer to Q28.
Damn - just typed a huge answer and lost it trying to look back so I'll start again
I like 53 - well done
67 I have Kool and the gang for 71 (gang slang scottish term for go) do you have something else because before that I had that for 67 as you suggest
I can give you 38 47 and 57 is that what you mean
missed some
31 yes I have blockheads - bet its wrong - lol
28 hale and pace and the stonkers is best I can do
Question Author
Back to square one with 67, I like your 71.
Yes give me 38, 47 and 57, although I do have Elbow Bones and the Racketeers for 47.
There is a group called Ivor Biggun and the Red Nosed Stonkers , but that could be too obvious for 28
So we are down to 55, 65 and 67 is that correct?
Hale and Pace definitely had a top 40 hit with the stonkers - I got that from the everyhit site reached number 1 in 1991

I have elbow bones too so now you do I am going with that

38 is Derek and the dominoes (or billy ward - take your pick) if you look dominoe has the definition cape so then I have put the other dominoe one for 49

57 flash and the pan (nap backwards?)

so I agree nothing at all for those three not even anything I can make up!

This little thread has been great I really appreciate the help
Jean

saw the new posting that suggested Herman Hitson and the tonics. Spent over half an hour but found no uk top 40 but did find this
Adrian Baker ahd a top 40 hit with Sherry and his backing group are called the tonics!
Question Author
sorry Jean I'm loosing the thread, which question is Tonics refering to. I have tried e-mailing Budweiser to see if they can make any suggestion
Question Author
Jean, I have just been through to Fiji quiz setters, they advise me that no answers have the same name in either part, this means that only one answer contains "Dominoes" so I assume that we still need Q38. They did say that this answer is a little known group.
No I am happy with 38 (one of the domino answers not sure how you decide which as they both had top 40 hits)
but now 49 pick me ups which I always wanted to be tonics can be what I said
Still leaves us with 55 65 67 unfortunately but boy have we put in the effort
so I think they must mean 49 is a little known groups cos I hadnt heard of them or the lead singer
Jean
Question Author
Jean,
this is a copy of the reply from Fiji, see what you make of it.
Alan

We are in Cambridge at the moment (exam meeting tomorrow). The sun is shining outside, but we are in a very noisy bowling place to check our emails!
The answers to 38 and 49 are different for both parts. Not sure what answers you have but 49 is probably the least well known answer (but they have had a top 40 success in the UK singles charts.

Hope you are enjoying the quiz anyway and that the weather in Derby soon improves

Best wishes from

Peter and Margaret

Question Author
Jean, have looked up cape, great answer to 38. Do you think 55. could be Bill Haley and the Comets or am I clutching at straws. Have you tried www.everyhit.coI have found a few on this site using the "includes the word" section
Alan
Question Author
thats www.everyhit.com
Well now it says 49 is the least known I am happy with my new find
Have I found the site!! I have that and
http://rateyourmusic.com/charts/top/
and have spent hours searching and I mean hours
I do think the everyhit one doesnt always list the 'and the' bit and that is why it took me a while to get the tonics one.
Comet is better than nothing and I dont like to leave blanks!
Spent an hour last night trying to find a backing group called the buds or minibuds for 65 but no luck. I now have some very weird answer for 67 so weird I cant remember it so will look it up and tell you later as I am just off out. It is something to do with Eddie Cochran and the swingers
Why isnt Gerry and the pacemakers in there somewhere - lol
Jean
Question Author
Oh dear, I've got Gerry and the Pacemakers for Q73 what do you have?
I've been looking at groups with Lite in the name I think there was a Budweiser Lite beer.
Be in touch again, am going up to Yorkshire tomorrow for a week, but will be able to use their computer
Bye for now
Alan
Now you see its a good job I'm here Alan
I dont think its gerry and the pacemakers and am now glad I mentioned it.
How about run run as fast as you can you cant catch me I'm the gingerbread man!
I just found Astronaut Alan and the planets but can find his song cellophane mary jane as a top ten hit mores the pity
Have a good week
Jean
Question Author
thanks Jean, good job you raised that one. Bye for now
Alan
Hope you had a good break.
Just spent an other hour on the hit site but no joy
