Mephisto
24 Answers
I've just won the Mephisto...again! I mentioned here the fact that I'd won one first and two consolation prizes in that competition within the space of just a few weeks last summer. And here we go once more.
The postcard informing me doesn't say whether it's a first or a consolation this time, but what the heck am I going to do with yet another Bloomsbury Dictionary if it's the first? A pair would make a handy kitchen steps, I suppose.
At least - for people who ask if it's possible to win these things more than once - I can offer them a resounding "Yes!"

As to the name issue I have always used the same name and address without a thought as to whether it would count against me, but, as I had (multiple) wins with The Spectator, the Guardian, the Telegraph and Prospect I found that it never mattered.
Here's to more wins for all ABers in the future.

I have won the Mephisto 5 times now but with different names as I thought that it mattered. However I had the priviledge of chatting to Barbara Hall (who is 85 years of age by the way) who does the draw for the Mephisto and still runs the Book Quiz among others, and she assured me that the draw is done every Monday morning by her secretary, and that it is random and that you can win in successive weeks as some have done. Reading of the success of Quizmonster confirms this. Keep plugging away. She also tells me that she gets about 1000 correct entries for the Mephisto as opposed to about 6000 for the Sunday Times crossword.
