Stuck on bottom right corner. 16 across - Track - dash one end to the other (4) - L??? 27 across - Cuts lines at 14s? (4) - A??? (the answer to 14 is "right angle") 17 down - Retailer in a dip in Gloucestershire town (9) - ??W?A???T (think it's "newsagent" but can't see town.)

Newent is a town in Glos. , sag is a dip , correct with Newsagent
16 a Lane (elan(dash) move the e one end to the other)

Nice one, JD - thought it was 'line', but didn't think that was very good. No, that's a very good clue - thanks for shove in right direction!

I'm sure you're right with 'axes' but can't quite reconcile it to the clue. I'm certainly not that precise with an axe!
It's the plural of axis MCC. Then it fits with the "cuts" and the right angles bit!

Hope that makes sense.
