You must have missed my earlier explanations but it is a Zulu word which roughly translates as 'Kaya' (house)
'kamina' (mine- belonging to me)....My House/ My Home
I too, missed earlier explanations, but even more intrigued now - were you familiar with the Zulu language prior to AB ??
I love the expression, - always had images of wild white water rafting but couldn't figure where mina came in - I won't be offended but have you spent time in South Africa - my husband grew up in what's now Botswana and frequently throws in dialects - show off that he is !!!
Hello seekeerz. My fascination with the Zulu people ,language, culture and history stems from a job assignment I had many years ago which took me to several countries in Africa.
I chose the name as my AB pseudonym bacause I like the word and the memories it invokes and it is unique and easily recognisable.
As i am a regular participant on AB with answers, my name has, initially because of it's length, been reduce to 'K' by which I am known to most old timers on here.
Well. K, that answered a question I didn't like to ask, I love all the user names and often wonder as to their origins. Perhaps seekeerz will explain her name for me now? (please)
Thanks
merched ( welsh for girl/woman, not very original, I wanted "valley girl" but that was taken)
