the kids in question are English girls aged 8-10.

I think your questions 1 and 2 may be a bit difficult for brownies aged 8 to 10.

You could ask them what are the English words for Sidewalk, Elevator, Gas and Freeway.
What is the coinage of America?
Who discovered America?
What colour are the taxis in New York?
Who is the current president?
What is the emergency number in America?
What ocean do you have to cross to get to America?

I think the dolls with no faces is something to do with corn dollies. The statue on long island is the Minerva Statue.

Amish people never put eyes nose or mouth on the dolls to represent nobody is better than enyone else. they have no electric or cars and dress in long black dresses with bonnets covering hair ( Its like stepping back in time ) a place you must visit if you go to New Jersey
