This second week of the reign of Queen Christiana went more to plan in terms of choice of Link Words and their predictability. I can now reveal those links chosen by Christiana (aka Jackie) are:

CHEQUE Book
Rest ASSURED
WELCOME Break
Free AGENT

Quite straightforward choices you may think and in keeping with her preamble, yet it went to 30 entries before the final link word was spotted! As you will see it was very much "catch up" time!

Well, the Marmite Patrol was not as successful as usual and it was REST ASSSURED that drew the early bonus points with no fewer than FOUR entrants striking home within the necessary two minutes. First spotted by bridgenut in spades (!) and followed closely by rogerr, freebie 2 & Grenmus ; rest assured you each will qualify for Two Points!

After a brief delay, in marched FREE AGENT Chiefpanda at 09.13 as Entrant #17 to open another avenue to explore. Usually at this point in the proceedings, we have the appearance of FoxLee with some very sharp predictions (but not within the allocated two minutes period). Not so this week! At 9.15, she entered the fray with both FREE AGENT and WELCOME BREAK to score FOUR Points and making her Hot Shot of the Week.
**** CHEERS ALL ROUND ****

In fact some 8 minutes later, bangor predicted these same two links, but (alas) too late to qualify for bonus points. The final link of CHEQUE BOOK was cashed in at 11.46 bydd47 as Entrant #30! (Was it just too obvious?) Christiana thought that this would be the first link to fall!

Scoring thereafter occurred as a gentle trickle!

League Table (at this early stage)

4 PointsFoxLee, freebie 2, gen2 & rogerr
3 Points bangor
As many as eight others now on two points after this second Round

This was an excellent second game for Christiana with much fewer options and far more clues than is healthy, I think. Definitely, more waving than drowning!

This is crofter signing off for another week, leaving a tightly bunched field from which I would not like to pick a favourite for the July Title! Perhaps next week will reveal which of these front runners will start to pull ahead.

See you next week: Same time Same place

Until then: HAPPY LINKING and WELL DONE Foxy Lady!

:o)
Oh well, maybe the KM links tomorrow.........or perhaps not as I put cottage loaf which Idid not realise until after formed Saturdays clue! She could double bluff I guess.

As always thanks to Crofter for his input and to Christiana for setting the clues
Well no points here yet again or for Jim. Hope you are enjoying your break christiana. Thanks crofter, and we will have try again next week.
Well done to FoxLee, freebie, gen2 and rogerr. Zero for me - I didn't get a chance to wave, I just drowned. Never mind, better luck next week!

Thanks, as always, to crofter and thanks to Christiana for the clues.
At last, I'm getting some points. Makes a diiference with a lady in charge! Cheers Christiana and Crofter.
xx B
Ooops--well done "Hotshot " Foxlee
Nothing again but perhaps my words were a little strange. Thanks Christiana for your choice and thanks Crofter for scoring etc. even though I didn't give you anything to do. Best wishes
Wow, I'm gobsmacked but I don't really understand how I got 4 points. I thought you had to be the first person to get the link or get it within two minutes. Chiefpanda got Free Agent at 9.13 and my time was 9.15 was well beyond the two minute rule????

Normally I try to post as early as possible but as I had missed last week, being on holiday, I took my time yesterday and gave the words more thought and the change of strategy seems to have paid off getting two right. I shall try the same tactics this coming week.
Thanks Crofter, JMR27 ane Rogerr for your comments.

Times of 09.13 and 09.15 satisfy the two-minute rule ... but 09.13 and 09.16 do not!

For several weeks now you've been three minutes away and just missing out on bonus points!
Have at last managed to get to a computer. So better late than never and congratulations to all the 'winners' and thanks to Crofter for posting on my behalf as well as doing all the scoring etc.
I must admit I was somewhat naughty - a queen's prerogative! - and scattered red herrings liberally about. The one most people fell for, including Alibobs, Jules and Gen2, was coffee break, but welcome break was well signalled and seen by several others. The other big red herring was 'sugar free'; I don't think anyone fell for this one though several came close with 'calorie free'. There were no red herrings to deflect you from cheque book, so, as Crofter said, I was surprised there were 30 entries before it was spotted.
I'm already planning next week, when the possible links will be even narrower. Oh, and I'm having a wonderful holiday - home late on Tuesday
Thanks for explaining Crofter, I had completely the wrong idea of the 2 minute rule. All this time I've been under the misapprenhension that it was 2 minutes from when the words were posted at 9 a.m. Doh!!
Thank you Christiana and crofter. Unfortunately I went fishing this week and all I caught were embarrassed herrings. Well done FoxLee, freebie 2 and rogerr. I cannot wait until next week to let the battle recommence.

well obviously last week was a 'one hit wonder' guess I'd better find that wooden spoon again - I'm not safe without it !!

Congratulations to all the scorers - as old Mr Grace used to say 'You've all done very well'
