Puzzled!! 26A Rod, pole or perch (5) Can only be ROOST, but why, pray? Roost = perch but where do rod and pole come in? Hate it when I can't see the logic!

rod,pole,perch are all measurement of length (pre metric)

Thanks, knew that, but where's the connection with roost, rod and pole, I ask ! Didn't think roost had anything to do with measurement, or am I just being dim....?

If you were building a henhouse and you wanted to put up something for chickens to roost on, you could use a pole or a rod. Do yousee now?
