Thanks novalis - I've never heard of 'Here am I', so would never have got it!
"Here am I" is given in Oxford Dof Q's and it's the only one I can see which fits. I've just looked in an old ( cost 10/6 in old money!! ) Penquin Dict of Quotes but can't see anything which fits the others. Sorry.
R A R could be Robin and Richard

1) Roses are Red
2. Punch and Judy:

"Punch and Judy
Fought for a pie;
Punch gave Judy
A knock in the eye.

Says Punch to Judy:
"Will you have any more?"
Says Judy to Punch:
"My eye is too sore.""

I think I can see why this nursery rhyme has been forgotten!

Scrub round my Roses are Red. I think it will be Robin and Richard as ageing fast said.
Val.
Here am I is slightly saucy, probably not sung by my children in pre-school I hope!!

ageing fast- what a lovely list of nursery rhymes, it's amazing how many you can recite once you get the first line, isn't it!
I'm at a loss as to what the remaining ones are - probably something more modern.

Thanks again to you all.
