I know it's the same old thing and everyone will be up in arms but haven't received my quiz yet and I know its not due to be returned until October so WHY are people asking for help already? Have they honestly tried to find the answer ?. I have just received the Marie Curie Cancer Care Summer Quiz which is sets of 5 questions then 6th is a link between the 5. I spent all morning looking for a link and trying different options then suddenly I got it and it felt great to have solved it! (only 15 more to go). I just hope that in a week or so people aren't asking for the links because it is possible to do them just by googling but also with a bit of lateral thinking. Come on everyone look a bit harder for the answers and get the buzz from actually working it out youselves!!! I will now sit back and wait for the abuse, but this is meant in a friendly way!!!!
i agree i only got mine today. I know i don't have to look at the answers but people should not ask until 2 weeks before the closing date. We have the whole of August and September to go yet.
Well done evsajo and boysinblue68
I find your point of view very strange Diane. So it's not the done thing to post questions until two weeks before the closing date. Explain why you were posting a question on the Harry Potter quiz last Saturday - 2lst July - when the closing date is not until 22nd SEPTEMBER!! Perhaps you should take your own advice!
Well you certainly didn't offer any help, did you? Anyway, my young niece was round on Monday and she was able to give me the answer.
Whether you asked one question or several, you still posted way before the closing date. Why don't you give other people the benefit of the doubt - maybe they receive a quiz, start doing it, get stuck and ask for help without even looking at the closing date.
Or is it just a question of don't do as I do, do as I say?
foxLee the reason I didn't answer your Harry Potter was because you posted it at 23.36 and I wasn't on line then and because my question was answered I haven't looked at it since until you started tonight. If I had seen it I would have tried to help you as I try to help others.
No, Diane, I don't want blood nor to get into an argument with you. It's just that what you said didn't seem fair in light of what you did. I only remembered because I'd posted on your thread. That's something I don't understand - when I've posted a question, every time there's been an answer, even a week later, I've had an email to tell me. So it seems strange that you didn't know I'd posted the HP question. Anyway, water under the bridge....
Evening evsajo ... Have I missed another post about a new quiz. I remember getting the last one. Is it possible to post the details ? xx
PS ... this is not intended to carry on the debate but when I first joined about 18 months ago it did seem to be an unwritten rule that it was not seemly to post until a few weeks before closing date. If anyone did they were told that it was too early !!!! xx
And thats how it ought to be now. I nearly didnt do the shops quiz because so many people had asked questions before I had even got mine and yes I know you dont need to look but its hard not to if they are asking one you dont have.
I agree that quite often googling gets you the answer but it has to be deep research and maybe thats what many cant or dont do.
As for Marie Curie I just need one link I'm not sure of so watch out for me checking nearer the date - lol
i agree with you evsajo, the most fun i have with a quiz is trawling through my books to find the answers, and only ask for help in desperation, but i must say i do also forget to check the c,d, at times, its easily done.
I knew this would cause a bit of a debate and it wasn't intended for people to have arguments about what they have or haven't done.I suppose in a way I feel like smouse,I see a new quiz advertised then see so many requests for answers that I don't bother to send for it eg. i haven't sent for "shops" quiz and unfortunately the fund raisers miss out. I know this is a problem that can never be resolved but just felt today I had to get it off my chest!! One final point, the answers on AB are not always right so I'd much rather try myself than submit someone elses mistake. Thankyou all for replying to me and I think we all agree that trying to do answers yourself is much more rewarding but perhaps with a week or two to go we could ask for a clue. goodnight and best wishes to you all.
