Number of entries submitted

Does anyone know how many entries are submitted to the weekend crosswords? I regularly sent the Saturday Telegraph GK/Monday Herculis, Mail on Sunday GK, You magazine and Sunday Express GK. Never won anything in years, am I wasting my stamps?

Like the lottery, your stamp just buys you the excitement of a possible win.It's certainly not a good bet!

Hi miss meg...I have only ever won �15 in a local rag, maybe I was the only entrant!

I find the excitement of a win keeps me on track, but I'm pretty sure I spend more in stamps than I get in prizes. I was once told numbers for one of the crosswords I enter - can't remember what the number was but it was staggering!
To encourage you, though I have won on several occasions, including two telegraph pens, several sets of book tokens and recently a huge Chambers Dictionary (really appreciated). My best prize, though, was a simple postcard comp. in the Travel section of the Telegraph, which was a holiday in South Africa - so stick in there, you never know

It is my ambition to win the DT pen before I die!

I did win the "Where was I" comp in the Sunday Times a couple of months ago - my prize is 4 nights in a 5* hotel in Sicily, transfers, flights included plus some extras hubby and I are partaking of this in September!

Sad thing is I would still rather have won the pen!

Bridgenut wins!!!....I prefer Salt 'n' Vinegar anyway!...and staying at home doing the housework, shopping, cleaning etc instead of going on holiday!!.....I know..I'm not kidding anybody!!!

I've just worked out my annual postage on crosswords etc. - I usually do about 7 at the weekend and it's over �100 pa- gulp! I deserve to win.

I've won the Saturday GK Telegraph crossword - it was a couple of years ago now. I had a runner up prize a few years prior to that.
My husband hasn't won a thing!
Well done to all those who have won holidays etc - I try those sometimes.

I meant to say that I would love to know the ratio of who wins when you can enter a comp on line or by post. I did the ST one by post but had entered online in the past

I've done quite well over the years, herculis �250 plus the pen, 1 first prize telegraph cryptic, the dupont gold pen, and3 runners up, book tokens, 2 consolation prizes you magazine,a watch from a daily telegraph general knowledge competion, several small prizes from the local paper.
So keep trying,I send around 8 entries each monday, but it is fun, and when people say that's a nice pen, my day is made.
