MM Links Solutions August 2007 [Week 2]

This second week of the reign of Queen Alibobs began with major meltdown due perhaps to messing with the "Little People"! However, I can now reveal that the Link Words chosen by Alibobs were:

Fairy LIQUID
Imp LIED (Devious!)
Elf CHILD(REN) (Rule of Equivalence)
Pixie DUST

This was all in keeping with her (delayed) preamble, yet finding a suitable link for IMP slowed everybody down. Nevertheless, there is some evidence that several of you are already in tune with Alibobs.

Well, the very Early Birds were not as successful as usual and it was ELF CHILD that brought the results with Entrant #6, rogerr hitting home (at 9.06)~ closely followed by FoxLee & cliffyg ; (within the required two minutes)and each will also qualify for Two Points!

After a brief delay and with a liberal sprinkling of PIXIE DUST, bridgenut dealt a winning hand at 09.10 as Entrant #14 to take another �trick�. Almost immediately after, in came devadiva with FAIRY LIQUID to take the third scalp. To this point, no-one had scored more than two points, but that was soon to change!

At 9.22, ulysses claimed the final link with IMPLIED (an acceptable ploy but not often used!). He also carried ELF CHILD to score Three Points. However, he is NOT this week�s �Hot Shot of the Week�. I am delighted to report that that honour goes to Jools (as in JimJools) since she also scored Three Points but from THREE correct predictions (NO bonus points). That is quite an achievement! Moreover, her Two Points from last week puts her as the stand-alone top scorer of the month (so far).

This was an entertaining (and timely) second themed game from Alibobs. There are far more problems when posting large amounts of text on AB than the average punter realises. I am pleased to say that Alibobs appears to have kept her head. Perhaps next week will be gremlin-free?

Oh well done, Jools - and other scorers. I'm not yet on Alibobs wavelength at all. Must confess I thought I had cracked it later in the day when I had another look at the preamble but it was just as wrong as my official attempt.

Pipped at the post, eh ? It has been a while since mentioned in dispatches, and I changed liquid at the last second , just to try something different. Well, in future I shall go with my first instincts.

.........and, by the way, many thanks for all the kind words to wish me a speedy recovery from whooping cough. A week on and I am still coughing up my guts (apologies for the imagery ) and , at times, it really does feel as if you are going to die.
If you don't see my name next weekend early on Saturday it's because I am out up and early for the day (in theory), and not that I have kicked the bucket (DV).

My knighthood this week goes to ChrisHewat - Mr Bobs and I had a protracted discussion about my choice of link word for Elf - Mr Bobs said no-one else would have heard of Elf Bowling! Well thank you Chris, you obviously had!

I am truly honoured by the award of your Knighthood but would have been even more pleased if my 'Un pointe' had been earned by Elf Bowling!!! Still I'll take one for Fairy liquid!!!
