Welcome Wildcatwilly. Recently someone posted some helpful advice for new members, some of which has already been posted, but as I'm pasting I've put the whole lot. Hope it's useful to you.

1 Put the name of the puzzle in the heading
2 Only ask for help when your own searches are exhausted.
3 Give the full clue, number of letters and any letters you already have.
4 Try to put all your questions in one post.
5 Check back, even if you have solved it yourself, so that you can give stars or a word of thanks.

Happy ABing

Hi Wildcatwilly! Welcome to this site, which can be quite confusing until you've got used to it and us. But once you have I'm sure you'll be glad you discovered it.

I'm so pleased that Christiana managed to find the helpful hints for newcomers that Aquagility (?) posted fairly recently. Unfortunately the search facility is not at all good and I couldn't locate it despite a fairly extensive search! If you stick with his suggestions - and you'll always be able to find them if you click on 'my profile' and then 'questions i asked' - you'll find getting answers to your problems if easy.

Happy Solving!
Yes welcome...it is a bit confusing at first, but you will get used to it, and get a lot of friends from it!!!
For kettledrum et al, the search facility has been relocated to the bottom of the page, just above 'terms of use'. Had to search for it myself.
Thanks for that geo. I expressed myself badly. I've found the new location of the search facility, but I couldn't find the helpful guidance given by Aquagility (?). It comes up with a pretty random selection: I had 2 attempts and got entirely different results on the 2 separate occasions.
