am I the only one who is reluctant to post answers on this site now, because the people asking the questions are not courteous enough to say thank you for my trouble?surely its not unreasonable to expect some good manners!

You are not alone!! The same thought bugged me yesterday. At least a thank-you lets you know that your contribution has been seen, and hopfully is appreciated. It also maintains the close friendliness of the site. Lack of feedback creates Grumpy Old Men like me!!
Good morning.poodledoo and rangerjim,I have just been reading your moan for today.I use this site quite a lot,as I do a lot of different quizzes most of them are for charities.I always thank everyone for the answers, and rate when ever possible. We would be lost with out people like yourselfs,so come on people thank the people with the brains,a big thank you from me.*****
I totally agree obviously you go to your question to get the answer and then how long does it take to just write thanks. Dont expect an essay but just one word would be nice.

and my other moan is the Lion Quiz which closes in January but I wont go down that path - lol

Thank you for your replies v8avm & rangerjim.Nice to know I'm not alone.
I think we have all experienced making a lot of effort and then seeing our answer sitting there, unrated and unacknowledged. However the majority of askers are prompt and generous with their thanks which makes it all worthwhile.
Well said, I've tried to teach my children to treat others how they'd like to be treat themselves and that manners cost nothing.

thanks smouse.Have now realised I've made a rod for my own back as I shall have to say thank you fairly quickly for every posting on this site today...............bring back thanks in advance!

I also agree with your point on the car quiz---yes I'm guilty having just posted an answer, but I don't know how you get round that one, unless the AB Editor has a list of closing dates, and bans all communication on that quiz until, say, a month before closing date.I would hate that though because I can't trust the post these days, and people want to get on with the quiz when they have time.Your halo is shining if you have managed to avoid reading the answers to the car quiz posted so far.Rest assured there are many of us who enjoy the kudos of solving answers for ourselves.

thanks grasscarp & ternigapp. I'm off to the dentist now-any further replies will be thanked on return.
No thats the trouble I have so many quizzes on the go I cant resist looking at the answers and bet I have got more than half the car answers from AB
I must learn to have will power - lol
I did start just subscribing to them till I was ready to start it but it soon became obvious there were going to be dozens on this one
what car quiz? I seem to be missing that one.
Yes, it's only common courtesy to say "thanks", but why moan if they're not received? Is it not enough to know you've helped someone? If you're doing it because you want to be thanked ... then maybe this is the wrong site for you?
MatydaLover: the answers to all the questions you pose are in answer no 1
I can't be bothered to even look back to see if people have said thank you ....and you have no room to talk !

What I really meant to say was ....I went to a lot of trouble to provide you with an answer ....yet you couldn't be be bothered to provide me with a thank you for my trouble !

It works both ways !
i received my car quiz and completed 98/100 on the first afternoon

why should i not ask for and provide others with help .
it is of no consequence of when the closing date is!!

Thank you in advance of your thanks!!!

I'm a relative newcomer to this site. I'm in the middle of chemo at the moment so I have a lot of time on my hands. My oncologist told me that I would probably be incapable of doing my crosswords and quizzes because of the 90% toxicity of the treatment, so finding this site and being able to prove him wrong and also help others has been great fun, has given me something to do and has been very satisfying!

So what I'd say to this is, yes, it's nice to be acknowledged but on the grand scale of things - does it matter? I love trying to beat you guys to an answer (which is part of the fun) but it doesn't matter if I don't. Life's too short!
