Perhaps a few letters from 1d would jog the memory.

JDovengloves and Puzzlenut - thank you both very much for your help. I hope I'm right in putting Trollope for 1d. and now that you-ve given me Musk Deer I am just left with 12ac. Don Giovanni succeeded in splitting a couple (5.3.) for which I have L?D?S ?A?. Again, many thanks for your help.
