I think Squit can now be confirmed ... when suggesting it originally I hadn't started the puzzle, but now have S?U?T and Chambers says " a contemptible person".
I never heard of this. I probably dont move in the right circles!
i seem to recall the word was used quite widely back in the 1920s and 30s. was it in a billy bunter book? or volumes of that era?
