I just googled The grey coast , author and got Neil M Gunn.
The Twa Bridges might be the ones in Ayr
Re. number 1, I did a google search but couldn't come up with anything on Fort Glasgow, but there were loads on Glasgow Fort. If that's the case, could the answer be Auchinlea Park?

Jim Watt won in the Kelvin Hall against Alfredo Pitalua
For 5 I think 32.
Try these (NOT 100% certain)
2: The 60's
3: Across the Tay at Perth?
7: Kelvin Hall Glasgow against PITALUA in 1979
Are you sure about Fort Glasgow? . Could it be Port Glasgow?
I was thinking the same as geo0939, and if it is Port Glasgow, then the answer must be Newark.

Hope this helps.
2. Oil drilling in the north sea began in the 1970's
7. Jim Watt fought on i believe 3rd november 1979 at Kelvin Hall Glasgow
My thoughts exactly , The Winner!
I would also query number 4, are you sure it's not Gundy rather than Grundy?

Gundy is toffee
Well done geo0939. Two brains are better than one!
The first oil from the North Sea arrived through the pipeline in 1975, the drilling began some time before then.
Test drilling began in 1966 (Wikipedia).
To The Winner, just for fun, a reference from1893, "Hey you, gies that GUNDY, or I'll knock your turnup heids thegither".

Many thanks all of you, this was my daughters homework and she has been struggling with it for sometime. I have found some questions i have already answered to have had spelling errors so i would imagine these answers are all good and that the above also had spelling errors.
