Sorry! All the answers relate to 'money matters'. The question is: He opened at new casino but was master of this (5,4)...
James Bond?
That's the nearest I've got rbind but I'm not entirely happy as I can't really see where "master of this" fits in
-- answer removed --
me too incognito.
I took a guess at Black Jack, but not sure either
'He' is an anagram of 'at new casino'. Find him first and the rest should follow.

Just leaves no.53 'Loaf around for a while'??
My first thought was "Stale bread" but I am not convinced - any thoughts?
Again that's the nearest I've got , Badger, but like you I do have reservations

It is a neat answer , the only problem being that I would hardly consider "stale bread" a well known phrase; it isn't included in Chambers under either 'bread' or 'stale'
Exactly - I will continue to ponder.
still can#t get 28, but I did get 6 answers today - all by myself, by which I mean not AB.
newarch has the key.

Goofy: Look at Newarch's earlier answer re 28 - find anagram and google answer.
I think STALE BREAD could be right for 53, but I'm not 100% sure. Where is Newarch when we need him/her??!!
