Out of idle interest, and perhaps after chatting to a few folk.....how would the majority feel if Rainbow asked people that entered NOT to crib of of this site.........similar to what GBQ ask?

Would you still enter, if the answers were not availiable here. Would you send in an incomplete quiz?

Would the difficulty put you off altogether?

I'd be most interested in any views.

OK, I'll take that one up.
People ask for help on crosswords on the day they come out--no one complains because they enjoy helping each other.
Peterborough Lions quiz has been posted almost since it came out, again no one has complained.
Why is it that this quiz causes so much hassle--? the prize money
Everyone is entitled to their view, but harassing someone eveytime they post is totally out of order. Figi has stalked bibster right from the beginning.
It is no more cheating to ask for help here than to ask your family or friends.

It's not the prize money on this one I feel. It's the fact that is dreaded (new word I made up) hard and it's genrally resented by purists when people cheat.

I don't think anyone is objecting to the odd plea for help, but some people are getting the whole quiz answered on here. Now why would ANYONE do that?

OK--so bibster had the nerve to post lots of questions when the rest of us were reluctant to do so. What if we had all posted a couple each, would that have been alright?
My problem is that someone on here is hounded to the point of leaving and is probably very upset by all this---is that OK then?

The internet gives anyone the chance to find out anything if they look long enough. What does it matter how they find it out. Googling or asking here?

It still remains that this is a "quiz" a "test" if you like. Yes it's for charity and therefore I can't see why those that are lacking answers are so hell bent on cheating!

Why not send it with your best effort if that is what it is really about........you folks keep telling me it's all about the charity, and then cheating like mad for a chance at winning!!! LOL

grasscarp, it's causing interest because it's a particularly hard quiz.
I'm certainly not objecting to people asking for a wee bit of help. On a couple.
However, seriously, someone is asking for nearly every answer. That's annoying. Sorry but it is.

If you have struggled through this quiz alone, then you will know that it's bloody annoying when SO MANY questions are asked by one person. That's when it becomes cheating.

Jammy, I can appreciate your perspective, when you have been able to do it unaided, and can then see others do it simply by asking. However, it is only a quiz at the end of the day and it is not really worth getting so passionate about. I can see it is a hard quiz and you are lucky that you have the ability to solve the questions by yourself.

Yes grasscarp, granted. But how much should we help? We are one step short of publishing the answers. Is it meant to be this way? I don't think so.

There is NO challenge THIS way and why should a charity quiz be no challenge? Any point in a quiz if we ALL have the answers?

So we can ask questions about easy puzzles, but not hard ones, according to you? Some people have stated that they found this quiz quite easy-so that should be ok then?

You may all have a shock when the next Rainbow is published. But will you abide by their wishes??? doubt it.

I dont agree. I struggled and I mean struggled through sweetness and light but I am happy to give my answers away. It doesnt spoil it for me. I want to do as much as I can so I dont look at the related threads.
And who can say which quizzes are hard so we can judge which not to ask on. We all have our own particular skills.

I asked Rainbow several quizzes ago and they were happy with people giving each other clues but not answers.
I swap clues and answers with my mum who also does this quiz and we often work on clues together but have never considered it cheating. We enjoy it! Between the two of us we've only ever got 100 once tho we are usually very close to it.
Surely the important thing is the fun we get out of solving the clues and the money Rainbow makes.
