Bertie Wooster. The batman was Jeeves.
Sgt. Bunter had also been lord Peter Wimsey's batman.

I think, from memory, that one or more of the manservants/butler's in the Dornford Yates' books had been their, the Pleydell/Chandos characters, Great War batmen.
