Having a mental block morning over the top right corner!

10A Steeplechaser, one taken aback after spring (4-6) ?U?P-?O?K?? I assume this is JUMP-JOCKEY but don't understand the "one taken aback" bit

9A Above having gradual increase reaching excessive size (10) O?E??????H Assuming this is OVERGROWTH

6D Resembling sin? (4) If the above two are right, then this is ?G?Y Could this be UGLY - but why?

7D Necktie card-player may have (4-2-4) ????-?N-?A?D

11A Romeo has order for gown (4)

Thanks betterman - that now gives me FOUR-IN-HAND for 7D, which confirms 9A as OVERGROWTH.

But I still don't understand the clues for 6D (if is UGLY) and 10A if it is JUMP-JOCKEY

why is it robe?
R for Romeo & OBE is an order. Robe is another name for a gown.

10A is JumpJockey - the taken aback after spring is for "jump" as in "spring" and aback is riding.

9A is correct

6D is UGLY from the expression "ugly as sin" !

11A am still working on that one as well as 7D
10A one taken aback a horse- a jockey

7D Four-in-hand- an old type of necktie

11A Guess it's R(OBE) although can't see why R is an abbreviation for Romeo
