Tearing hair out over these.
28. He opened at new casino but was master of this (5,4)
97. Someone backing between King's cross and Old Street (5)
I have seen a couple of clues previously but am still puzzled.

28a) anagram of 'at new casino' for the name of the most famous English mathematician and physicist who lived from the mid-1600's and into the 1700's ......
then look at his biography to find one of the positions/job he held .... 'Master of the ..... .... ' ...... (used to be based in London, but now in Wales!)
97) just look at the tube map for the station that is between Kings Cross and Old Street ..... 'backing' in the clue means people giving financial backing/ putting the money up in theatreland ....
i hope that you still have some hair left ..... :-)

Not a question of daring - but, of doing ... and noting a 'green newbie' .....
Personal attacks are against Site Rules ... there are always those who want to impose their idea on others .... well, there is a word that comes to mind - dictatorship
Nowhere are their rules that say which Quizzes should or should not be answered, when and at what time, how much should be answered.
If you do not want to know answers, don't visit this site / or specific questions. Abers are not here to sit in judgement on other Abers .....
Many people do puzzles in groups or with friends etc - all asking and helping each other ....
As regards the specific 'Money Matters quiz ----
more entries gain more money for the charity ....
the prize is going to be paid out in any event ....
more people with the answers will send in more entries ...
seems to be a 'win-win' for the charity.

For some reason I thought this site was based on folk asking questions and other folk answering them. What does it matter if they are quiz questions?
I'd be surprised if every quiz question was set without some reference to the Internet to confirm the accuracy of the answer so why should those answering them not have the same facilities?
