AAaarrrggh! I've been forced into a last-minute re-write by some young country lad.
I can now reveal that Queen Jan's chosen links were:
clock WISE
NIGHT watch
minute WALTZ
second HELPING
So how did you all manage with guessing the first set of links from Queen Jan?
Fast forward to find out . . .

minus a few members who found themselves unable to post. Thankfully, they were in contact with others who
were able to post on their behalf - let's hope this situation can be quickly resolved.
The first scorer out of the shrubbery was evsajo at 9:05 who managed to correctly guess both NIGHT
WATCH and MINUTE WALTZ for 4 points. Within the specified 2 minute rule, JimJools(Jools) matched the
same two guesses and so picked up two bonus points for a total of 4 as well.
At 9:21, the third link of HELPING HAND was spotted by JRB who was the only person to pick up on this.
JRB also matched WALTZ and therefore gets a total of 3 points.
Now for the spanner in the works. I had prepared my posts by 5 pm and then went to prepare the evening meal
and enjoyed it along with a bottle of Chardonnay. Imagine my surprise when I log back on to find that
country_boy has discovered the elusive 4th link at the unprecedented time of 5:10pm on the SUNDAY! Not
only that, but he also matched WALTZ for a total of 3 points! Talk about cutting it fine! I think this must be some sort of a record.
This week a total of 8 members correctly guessed TWO links, but, despite the grief it has caused me, I award
*HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK* to lysander for not only being the one to find that last elusive link,
but to score 3 points with the other match as well . . . *CHEERS ALL ROUND*
The table of results follows:

The Standings after round 1 are therefore:
4 points: evsajo, JimJools(Jools)
3 points: country_boy, JRB
2 points: Dustybun, Elspeth, lysander, Magyar
1 point: 6 others
*CONGRATULATIONS* evsajo & Jools *JOINT LEADERS*
Phew!! I've made the re-write with just minutes to spare.
UNLESS of course, swannbaker does his usual stunt of posting minutes before closing time and gets 3 or 4 matches (fortunately unlikely an past performance).

The points are correct jan. if you look back at JRB's post (No. 34) here http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Quizzes-and-Puz zles/Question476047-2.html
you will see the chosen link was indeed SECOND HELPING. I made the slip-up when making the rushed re-write of the results and didn't have time to proof-read it. I think there is a case for making the closing time at least 1 hour before members expect the results to be posted.
I will suggest that to crofter

Gen2 ... Please don't make the closing time any earlier. I am quite often busy at weekends, and if I can't borrow a computer ( not guaranteed ) while I'm away, I would be pushed to get my suggestions in before 7pm Sun. I'm sure no-one would mind waiting for the analysis on the very rare occasions that a dark horse comes in with a last minute surprise score.
I have just returned to the croft and have read the messages.
First my congratulations to the high scorers ~ and to Queen Jan for an interesting start to the November MM Link Game!
My thanks also go to gen2 for covering for my absence. I agree that there needs to be some editing time BEFORE the results are announced. The MINIMUM should be ONE FULL HOUR. I too have been caught out by the final link word falling late in the day! It causes chaos!

crikey! where are my smelling salts?! I have lost my "null points" status!
Thanks to gen2 and jan but can I just say that I think it is madness for us to expect the results to appear on screen immediately after the closing time. The National Lottery don't even do that and they are paid a lot of money! I think most of us can wait half an hour so that the scorer doesn't end up with a nervous breakdown! :0)

It never rains but it pours!
I tried 4 times to add a post to this thread and zilch1
I then closed my internet connection and it refused to reconnect"
I have now shifted to my laptop and have signed on on a different account so fingers crossed I can post now. here is what I was trying to post earlier:
FoxLee Correction accepted. lysander was to have been my original hot-shot and had not been amended in my re-write.
It should have said:

The wording should have made it clear that I was awarding 'Hot Shot' to the person who found the last link.
Many Apologies to lysander and country_boy
