Thanks Jim Jools but I can't find it in either Chambers or Collins other than as an image of a Chinese deity.
Yes I wasn't sure of it but I thought if someone else had a look at it they may see something I didn't and I can't see anything else. Are you sure of your letters?

I agree with wheelbrace about the letters and the clue is plural, so joss wouldn't do on that score. Would it?

Found the answer in an old copy of Chambers.

Thanks dd47 - I had virtually despaired of completing the xword. I have now found it in Chambers having previously missed it. I can now also vaguely remember Goss cropping up on the Antiques Road Show
