In his latest book Terry Pratchett gives the following crossword clue:
Shaken players shift the load (9)
Lord Vetinari sneered at it, but I've pondered all weekend.

It's "carthorse". Players are an "orchestra". Shake the letters around to get "carthorse".

A carthorse shifts loads.
Carthorse.

Thanks very much
Lord Vetinari's right: it wouldn't be acceptable outside the Discworld, as it requires two steps to reach the anagram (ie is a 'clue within a clue'). Also the definition implies a different part of speech from the answer.
The answer is carthorse (it shifts the load) which is an anagram (shaken) of orchestra (players). A clue such as this would not be accepted under Ximenean crossword rules as the word being re-arranged is not itself in the clue.
