Gen2 - I don't have a better answer, but isn't it just ONE 'Fair Maid of Perth' ?

kettledrum - you're right in that the original story was about just one Fair Maid, and like Juliet's balcony in Verona, you can see her house in Perth to this day, however, the name was too good to lose. I think every girl born in Perth has the right to be termed a "fair maid" and there are instances even further afield - like the Perth, Australia morris dancing side!
