Can't get my head around this month's crossword, have been suffering from chest infection/asthma for weeks. Please can you help me with 37a, species such as cirl bunting, hen harrier, and firecrest, (9). Only word I can come up with is "protected".

my daughter laughs at me...
I am the same, only been doing them for a couple of years though...the only thing I have won was a �15 voucher from a 'new' loacal mag..a few months ago. My daughter said I was probably the only entry!! ...huh!!...bet there were hundreds!!
...and if I can't spell 'local' properly..I've no chance!!! :-))

Well, Pauline, I always think winning is the bonus. I love crosswords and it keeps the brain ticking over, thats the main thing as far as I am concerned!!
I'm not very good at cryptic clues though, my son usually helps me there.
