I cannot be sure but here are a few pointers.

The first singles I bought around 1963 cost 6s 8d which is equivalent to 33p. In the late sixties/early seventies there was quite a high rate of inflation so prices would have nearly doubled in 10 years. On that basis, I would make an educated guess that they cost 56p in 1973.
I think 48p because i remember getting very little change from 50p!
