I have a Seiko Oxford x-word solver and I previously had a Franklin one which has now given up and I want to replace. Has anyone got any suggestions for a good one? I like to try to solve clues myself first rather than relying on Google or finally the AB. Suggestions for a good reference book would also be welcome. I like general knowledge and cryptic puzzles most.
I shall be 86 next week and must keep the old brain working. Thanks in advance for any help.

As results can differ I wonder whose dictionary the newer one is based on.
As to the book, I use my (1994) copy of Chambers Book of Facts, but I don`t know if it`s still published.

Thanks Brooksy,
My Franklin was about 3 or 4 years old and that was Chambers, so the current one is probably the same.
I Googled the Chambers Book of Facts and there is a new edition published last November with 200,000 answers, RRP approx 14.99 Sounds a good idea. I shall probably finish up getting another Franklin as I want it for the anagram solving. The Seiko does do anagrams but peculiarly does not recognise plurals, so if there is an 's' involved it will not throw up an answer unless you try with or without the 's'
