Bert, if you're still awake after all that illicit drug taking and over-indulgence in alcohol....
The Daily Telegraph each Saturday has a general knowledge crossword. Four of the answers link to four more answers to be found in the Daily Telegraph's Monday general knowledge crossword. These link words are set by the crossword compiler. These are the link words that AB competitors try to guess in the KM Links game. Successful guesses are awarded points and winners are declared weekly and for the month.
The MM Links game is similar in that it involves guessing four link words. These have to link with four words chosen by an AB Shrubbery member (this month the redoubtable paulineward) which are published on a thread that appears at 08:45 on Saturday morning with the initial words appearing about 09:00.
The rest of us in the Shrubbery have until 19:00 on Sunday evening to get inside the mind of the setter and guess the linking words, which we add to the relevant thread.
Correct guesses earn points and, this is crucial, the early bird catches the Shrubbery worm: if you are the first person to guess a link word you earn bonus points....
The results are declared each week and the monthly winner sets the following month's words.
I hope that is a) clear and b) correct......
Welcome... and god luck.
