I know that this isn't exactly what you're after (but it's in a similar vein):

Question:

There is a seven-letter word in the English language that contains ten words without rearranging any of its letters." Can you think of the word?

Answer:

Therein. The, there, he, in, rein, her, here, ere, therein, herein.

Question:

There is an English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?

Answer:

Gizmonster - this is sort of what I want, but only 9 letters seems unlikely to be the longest one I would have thought, but thanks anyway

I meant to say 7 letters as it was "therein" I was referring to.
