I don't know if this will do any good, but I am trying to find two people who have sent in for quizzes in the last couple of days. Two envelopes arrived this morning, both had been ransacked and were completely empty. No note, no s.a.e and certainly no money! One had EIGHT Large letter 1st class stamps on it, plus a row of staples across the top, and was addressed to just Jenny, 2 Chapel Court etc. - no surname. The other was addressed to Wragby & District Swimming Club, Jenny Hadingham, etc. etc., with a second class stamp. In both cases, the postmarks are unreadable, unfortunately.

Obviously, I can't do anything with these without knowing who they're from, so if you have recently asked for a quiz, and after several days you don't get one, perhaps you could make contact again. It might be sensible to put your name and address on the back of the envelope, and mark "Quiz" on the front, in case they're tampered with again. At least I will know where to send the quizzes.

I've had a few instances of this happening in recent months, and it's not always envelopes that have got cash in. I have had several envelopes containing cheques which have arrived obviously tampered with, but the contents have still been inside, so I've been able to deal with them. It's starting to get on my wick a bit. BJ

You MUST reprot it to the Post Office. It can only be PO personnel. My friend is a PO investigator and they want to know about these things
Please do so.
Good Luck.
I have sent for the quiz in the last couple of days, with a second class stamp s.a.e. and cheque inside.Going on holiday early in the morning so won't know until i get back ,in three weeks, if you have sent a quiz to me.I agree you should report this, as it will put people off sending for quizzes.Like the idea of addresses on back of envelopes.Hope you manage to sort things out.
Hi Jenny I sent for your quiz posted early this week second class brown envelope, I enclosed a cheque and the surname is Mellor, could it be mine?....c

I've got to the bottom of one of them - the one with the eight stamps on. It wasn't a quiz request after all, but the envelope would have felt quite fat, so I guess whoever opened it thought they might find money inside. They would have been disappointed on that particular occasion!

Still leaves the other one, which is a white envelope and shows the imprint of a 1 coin, so not yours, candled. I recognise the surname, so feel pretty sure I've sent yours off. Hope you get it soon.

I was wondering whether there was any point reporting all this to the PO, but in view of what you say, Munden and joban, I think I will.

Big Jenny, definitely report to the Post office - as other people in your area may be being affected. I am always complaining to the PO about non-arrivals etc. At least they send you a few stamps but if there is theft, they will investigate.......

I certainly will. I was wondering, though, whether they would say it's my own fault, if there were coins in the envelope. I don't know if you're supposed to send coins through the post, but they might not be very sympathetic and think it's hardly surprising that coins will get pinched if they can be felt through the envelope.

Hi Jenny, received mine this morning thanks...c
Hi Jenny, I sent you a cheque for 1.34 on 21st Jan which cleared through my bank account 31st Jan but no quiz received. Could you send me a copy and I will send you a first class stamp when I submit it. If you e-mail me on [email protected] I will give you my address.
