Poet Rupert Brooke died in the first World War as did the poet Wilfed Owen. Poetry is obviously a hazardous occupation.
Aha - another poet, probably less known in England, but incredibly famous in Wales. His name was Ellis i think, but he used the name Hedd Wyn. He won many eisteddfodau chairs (greatest merit) and won the national eisteddfod at birkenhead posthumously. He used the pseudynym Fleur de Lys. There was also a film made about his life, and death. He was born, and lived, in Trawsfynnyd (not sure on spelling) near Bala.
