Hi jenniferd .. it's MASTERSINGERS, the English spelling of Meistersingers. I had problems with that one initially as well.

Thanks sarumite. I saw that word in my crossword finisher machine and never gave it a thought!!!!
Just means now that 35d must be LOMENTS and not LOMENTA as I had put.

I also had Lomenta originally, but there are two alternative plurals, and of course it's always the wrong one chosen first!! (S) ☺
