If no one had asked for a clue to this easy to find answer someone else would NOT have 'spoilt the quiz' for others by posting the actual answer which is available for all to read in just about every Chinese Cookery book at the Public Library.
I'm not entering this quiz but was intrigued that there was
a lot of discussion about it.

Quite right, Tallulah. It's the questioner who must act responsibly, because the answerer cannot know if a particular quiz is sacrosanct.

Those who try to help others cannot be expected to act as 'site police'.
There are a few folk who seem to think that asking for help in quizzes is something to be condemned and I am certain there will be a posting by a certain member along those lines.

There are no quizzes that are "out of bounds" as far as I am concerned.

I agree with THECORBYLOON.
I'll answer any questions on here that I can- I don't understand why certain people get upset about others 'spoiling' quizzes.
Surely the best way to find answers you don't know is to ask questions by whatever means - by looking in books, using the internet, or even asking people who DO know the answer.
I can't really believe that 'giving' answers to people really affects results of quizzes.
I know that if I'm stuck on a quiz/crossword and I DON'T want to know an answer, I jst avoid any threads with those questions on them.
I can't believe I really "spoilt a quiz" by giving a link to a very simple question....but hey-ho! each to their own
Oh dear! what a carry on!!!
Why the bickering? Quizzes are for everyone - they arefun and yes, sometimes we all draw a blank!! This site is wonderful - I love to read the friendly banter, the questions and anwers. What I hate to see is nit picking - its nasty and not appreciated!! We may not all be brains of britain but its good to try and help if we can and in return get a little bit of help back.

Some people may not have access to the local library, who knows what their circumstances are?

As for the comment from a certain source who likes to have his say: my advice to you is to get a life!!!!
We don't mind HELP or CLUES to answers. It is when whole questions are asked, whether in good faith or not, on Answerbank.

The Quizmail tournament is just that - a competition - not a small charity or other quiz.

Lots of people spend time and effort to find sometimes difficult answers only to have them broadcast to everyone on Answerbank (and other sites).

The difficult questions sometimes act as "tie-breaks" in this quiz so you can see how we get irritated!

Please try to have a bit respect and consideration to others.

I fully support the answerbank to help other quizzers but please -

"Askers" - please show a little restraint when asking questions to quizzes whose closing dates are weeks and months away.

"Answerers" - please read CAREFULLY what is being asked and only give a clue if that is what is requested.

Next time you go to a quiz and someone at the back shouts out every answer in a loud voice for everyone to hear - imagine how annoying that would be!

Happy quizzing everyone!
sorry i ever asked the question in the first place, love to know if it was that easy why there where quite a few different answers, again i only ask for clues, thats what this site is for.
Dont worry pj1331 - it's just a quiz. Keep smiling and good luck with future quizzes. :o)

Question Author
Everyone can access a library just by phoning.
I can access reference books in my county just by entereing ny library card number. Very useful for OED 20 volumes.
I believe there is an 'ask a librarian' website which I don't need. I AM a librarian!
I can see why Quizmailers are annoyed as it isn't run like a Prize Draw. Every answer sheet is marked and Prize Money shared unlike MOS, Sunday Express and YOU etc.
Actually, pj1331, This site is the Answerbank not the Cluebank!!
Everyone has had their say!!! Can we now get back to enjoying the site and our hobby of quizzing! Keep smiling everyone! :o)
You've missed the point podger123. Some people only ask for CLUES but well meaning people read half the posting then leap in with an answer by which time it is too late to retract.

Potential quiz-winning question demolished totally !

Read what is being asked - some people don't want answers despite the site description.

I may be naive - but I'll still answer any question if I can - even from you sodemall10 !

Sodemall, not everyone is as brainy as you THINK you are.
I know I'm brainy!!!! I scored high in the Mensa Test and have that magic piece of paper to prove it. Anyone else qualify?
sodemall, I get the feeling that your chosen Username saysitall.
