Thanks, but 12d I think is gutta serena, with definition being unable to see, and I have 16d as remodify. with definition construct again.

If 18ac is quassin. then 16d could be renidify, possibly.
If quassin is correct then 18d could be queachy. Ths looks good but it means swampy, not forming a thicket.
Also, my guess on 21 ac is ahem.
Thankful for any further advice.
